This report is based on the work done during my internship, in which I present both my experience and methodologies applied in practice, as well as theoretical issues. The internship was carried out at the Korean Embassy, and the essential focus was the translation of eleven classic Korean films, for the elaboration of the festival Clássicos do Cinema Coreano. The whole process of translation from Korean to Portuguese proved to be a huge challenge, especially due to the existing cultural differences, which become difficult to transmit when subtitling. However, this moment of sharing Korean culture with Portugal has become a great honor for me, a feeling of representing my country. The report is divided into four chapters: the first one describes the host institution and the internship itself, highlighting the historical evolution of the Korean-Portuguese relations and the concept of the Film Festival for which I did the subtitling. In the second chapter, I present a theoretical framework, in which I focus on issues related to audiovisual translation and its corresponding modalities, as well as on subtitling and its implementation through the rules and strategies that define it. Also in this chapter, I discuss Skopos Theory, which is extremely important in the field. In the third chapter, I expose the particularities in the Korean language through the subtitling process, addressing both the cultural issues that arose and the issues related to translation itself and the corresponding overcoming strategies. Finally, in the fourth chapter I present the analysis of eleven classic Korean films, of which I performed subtitling, exposing the particularities and challenges that arose, and how I tried to overcome them.
