Abstract(s)
Fizeram parte do estudo 221
Sociodemográfico, o Time Integration Questionnaire (TIQ), o Awareness of Narrative
Identity Questionnaire (ANIQ) e o Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES).
experiência global e integradora do tempo.
This research focuses on the study of time distortions, specifically on time succession and time integration and on experiences of timelessness; and on the relationship between these time distortions and identity through the study of normative dissociative experiences and the coherence of autobiographical narratives. The main objectives are (1) exploring the different types of time distortions; (2) exploring the relationship between time distortions and dissociative experiences; (3) exploring the relationship between time distortions and the coherence of autobiographical narratives; (4) and exploring the relationship between the coherence of autobiographical narratives and dissociative experiences. There were 221 participants on this research with an average of 35.69 years old. They answered a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Time Integration Questionnaire (TIQ), the Awareness of Narrative Identity Questionnaire (ANIQ) and the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES). The TIQ and ANIQ were also translated and adapted to the Portuguese population. The results suggest that contact with art, psychopathology and the consumption of nonprescription drugs are related to temporal distortions; and that mystical experiences are also related to experiences of timelessness. On the one hand, positive experiences such as creativity and art are related to distortions in time experience. On the other hand, negative experiences such as psychopathology and drug consumption are also related to the distortions in time experience, which suggests a paradox. The implications of these relationships are discussed in this study. The results also suggest that dissociative experiences, especially the experience of depersonalization/ derealization is related to the experience of timelessness and is better at predicting distortions in time succession; and that the lack of autobiographical memory coherence, especially of causal coherence, is better at predicting distortions in temporal integration. These findings seem to suggest that dissociative experiences explain distortions in specific experiences situated in particular moments in time, whilst lack of autobiographical memory coherence explains distortions of the time flow and of the temporal paradigm.
