Abstract(s)
Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Twins e InteligĂȘncia Artificial.
as empresas do setor farmacĂȘutico.
Over the last few years, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been taking shape. Several countries plan on implementing Industry 4.0âs concepts and have already designed strategies to achieve it in the near future. This revolution is characterized by the development of totally integrated and collaborative systems, using emerging technologies such as Big Data, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence. The application of these new technologies in the pharmaceutical industry has been named Pharma 4.0, and promises to revolutionize the pharma market, its supply chains, and the product quality. In the future, it will be possible to adopt continuous production processes and to produce in a more efficient, transparent, and lucrative way. This can be achieved using process advanced control systems with auto-adaptative, predictive and proactive characteristics. Implementing Pharma 4.0 operating model can be very challenging to corporations. Suitable conditions for innovation will need to be established to take this path. The journey is long, but the benefits seem to outweigh the risks. The production of personalized medicine, the flexibility of the production processes, the ability to make more informed decisions, and a holistic control of the product life cycle are some of the possibilities that come with the development towards Pharma 4.0. Regulatory bodies are in favour of this progress and seem to be inciting pharmaceutical industryâs modernization by coming with guidelines that lay the groundwork to help initiate management strategies for pharma industry to better cope with the task of putting Pharma 4.0 to practice.
