A aplicabilidade
The report presented is the outcome of an analysis of the Didactic Unit “Limit and Recognition”, produced within the framework of Supervised Teaching Practice for the Masters in Teaching of Visual Arts, undertaken at the Cacilhas-Tejo Secondary School in the municipality of Almada, Portugal. The report takes the form of a description of and critical reflection on the teaching practice developed in the discipline of Drawing A during the academic year 2020/2021, through distance learning (E@D), in class H of the year 10 Visual Arts course. The principal focus of this report is on the act of observation. Students studied a range of works by various artists over distinct periods as an exercise in raising their awareness of and to better understand different styles and techniques, along with their respective place in Art History. The task of this work unit was to execute in the form of multiple planes, a copy of a work of art, an image of which had been previously delivered to the students. Techniques of drawing, painting, cutout and photography were practiced in the form of a project, with a view to developing skills and improving awareness particularly in the fields of drawing and painting and also in the interplay between two dimensionality and three-dimensionality in an image. The outcome was the construction of a Book/Tunnel Box, also known as a peepshow. The process, undertaken remotely owing to restrictions imposed in response to the current pandemic, made it possible to observe and analyse the motivation and differing dynamics of the students and to verify their increasing autonomy in relation to the problems presented. Cooperative work among peers improved outcomes, appearing to compensate for the forced physical isolation of students and teacher. Success of the exercise was evident in the results achieved, all students demonstrating having largely acquired the learnings targeted in the project.
