Associativismo, democracia e inclusão social : o caso do Espaço Pessoa e Companhia

Este trabalho foca a relação entre associativismo, democracia e inclusão social,
assim como as minhas experiências enquanto agente associativo, com especial ênfase no
estágio realizado no Espaço Pessoa e Companhia.
Na primeira parte, faz-se uma revisão da bibliografia relacionada com o
associativismo, contextualiza-se este movimento em termos histórico-sociais, atenta-se
na relação que o associativismo tem com o Estado, analisa-se a relevância da classe social
no movimento associativo e abordam-se os potenciais perigos que podem surgir com a
prática associativa.
Procede-se, depois, na segunda parte, a uma análise demográfica da freguesia de
Arroios, na qual está inserida o Espaço Pessoa e Companhia, assim como um
levantamento de associações culturais sediadas nesta freguesia. Na terceira parte, avaliase
os eventos que decorreram durante o meu estágio e o funcionamento geral do Espaço
Pessoa e Companhia, analisa-se a sua relação que com os seus sócios e conclui-se até que
ponto este projecto contribui para a inclusão social de quem nele participa.
Por fim, dá-se conta de outras experiências minhas no movimento associativo,
nomeadamente na Associação Desassociada, e reflecte-se sobre a importância do
associativismo para uma sociedade democrática e politicamente consciente.
This dissertation focuses on the connection between associativism, democracy and social inclusion, as well as my experience as an associative agent, with special emphasis in my internship at Espaço Pessoa e Companhia. In the first part, it reviews the bibliography related with associativism, it contextualizes this movement historically and socially, it regards the relationship between associativism and the State, it analysis the importance of social class in the associative movement and it approaches the possible dangers of the associative experience. In the second part, there is a demographic analysis of Arroios, as well as a gathering of cultural associations located in this parish. In the third part, there is an evaluation of the events that took place during my internship and of Espaço Pessoa e Companhia’s general functioning. Also, this dissertation analyses the relationship between Espaço Pessoa e Companhia and its members and there is a conclusion about this project’s contribution for the social inclusion of those who participate in it. At last, there is a mention of my other experiences in the associative movement, namely the Associação Desassociada, and a reflection about the importance of associativism in a democratic e politically conscious society.
