Esta comunicação descreve dois estudos de um programa de investigação sobre o professor de Mate-mática e a tecnologia. Visam saber qual de que modo a calculadora comum (no ensino básico) e a calculadora gráfica (no secundário) está a ser integrada nas práticas profissionais e procuram também saber qual pode ser o papel da formação inicial e contínua. Os resultados de estudos de caso qualitativos indicam que há professores que usam a calculadora na sala de aula sem que isso signifique uma mudança nos objectivos, tarefas e práticas de ensino. Indicam, igualmente, que a cultura de escola e a formação podem ter uma influência importante sobre as concepções e as práticas dos professores.
This communication describes two studies of a research program about the mathematics teacher and technology. They aim to know how the common calculator (in basic education) and graphic calculator (in secondary) are integrated in teachers’ professional practices. It is also sought to know what the role of pre- and in-service teacher education may be. The results of qualitative case studies show that there are teachers that that use the calculator in the classroom but that does not mean a change in the aims, tasks and teaching practices. They also indicate that school culture and teacher education may have an important influence on teachers’ conceptions and practices.
