A villa romana do Vale da Arrancada (Portimão) localiza-se numa pequena elevação junto ao curso de um rio com acesso facilitado ao Atlântico. O sítio foi ocupado desde o séc. I e a sua identificaçáo, em 1918, ficou a dever-se a Leite de Vasconcelos, fundador do Museu Nacional de Arqueologia.
Do material recuperado num contexto de arqueologia de emergência, durante os anos 80 do século XX, e actualmente no Museu de Portimão, assinala-se um conjunto de cerâmicas de ampla cronologia onde se destaca a cerâmica tardo antiga. Neste trabalho aprofunda-se o estudo da terra sigillata recolhida no interior da cisterna identificada no local, com particular destaque para as produções Africanas, DSP assim como a Foceense tardia. Além de identificar o padrão de consumo deste sítio abordam-se igualmente os circuitos de distribuição e compara-se com os restantes sítios estudados no território algarvio, quanto à cronologia e à sua origem.
The Roman villa of Vale da Arrancada (Portimão) is located on a small elevation dose to the Arade river, with easy access to the Atlantic. The site was occupied since the 1st century AD and its identification, in 1918, was due to Leite de Vasconcelos, founder of the National Museum of Archaeology. From the material recovered in an emergency archaeology excavation, during the 80's of the 20th century, and currently in the Museum of Portimão, there is a set of ceramics of wide chronology where the pottery from Late Antiquity stands out. ln this work we study the terra sigillata collected inside the cistern identified in the site, with particular emphasis on the African productions, DSP as well as the late Phocaean ware. ln addition to identifying the pattern of consumption of this site, the distribution circuits are also discussed and compared with the other sites studied in the territory of today Portugal, concerning both their chronology and origin.
