Atualmente vivemos numa era em que a inovação cosmética está a crescer a um nível bastante acentuado. A enorme variedade de produtos, formulações, texturas e cores está a contribuir para a mudança dos rituais de beleza dos consumidores e a criar um mercado bastante variado de produtos.
No entanto, nos últimos tempos, os produtos cosméticos têm tido um grande impacto negativo a nível ambiental através do uso excessivo de recursos naturais, a utilização de matérias-primas que não são recicláveis ou reutilizáveis e a emissão de gases poluentes para o meio ambiente.
Por essa razão, a Indústria de Cosméticos começou a investir no desenvolvimento e implementação de medidas mais sustentáveis no fabrico dos seus produtos. A utilização de técnicas de produção mais sustentáveis, com os Fluídos Supercríticos; a utilização de matérias-primas certificadas, como o Óleo de Palma; a colocação de ingredientes naturais nas suas formulações; e o desenvolvimento de embalagens com materiais biodegradáveis têm sido as grandes apostas por parte da Indústria.
Os consumidores têm também um papel essencial no desenvolvimento destas novas medidas e por essa razão é importante que tanto os Farmacêuticos Comunitários, como a Indústria Cosmética consciencializem a população para esta temática.
No futuro novas técnicas de sustentabilidade, a nível da indústria, serão descobertas e cada vez mais os consumidores vão estar alerta para esta temática. Desta forma, todos juntos, conseguimos melhorar o ambiente que nos rodeia e consequentemente o planeta em que vivemos.
Nowadays, we live in an era where cosmetic innovation is growing at a very pronounced level. The huge variety of products, formulations, textures and colors is contributing to the changing beauty rituals of consumers and to create a very varied product market. However, in recent times, cosmetic products have had a major negative impact at the environmental level through the excessive use of natural resources, the use of raw materials that are not recyclable or reusable and greenhouse gas emissions to the environment. For this reason, the cosmetics industry began investing in the development and implementation of more sustainable measures in the manufacture of its products. The use of more sustainable production techniques, such as supercritical fluids; the use of certified raw materials such as palm oil; placing natural ingredients in their formulations; and the development of packaging with biodegradable materials have been the big wagers by the industry. Consumers also have a key role in the development of these new measures and for that reason it is important that both Community Pharmacists, as Cosmetics Industry bring awareness to the population about this issue. In the future new techniques for sustainability at the industry level will be discovered and more consumers will become attentive to this subject. In this way, together, we can improve the environment around us and consequently the planet we live on.
