The participation in this congress pretend to emphasize the importance of drawing and the collage process as an important vehicle for artistic expression. We emphasize the work by the surrealist movement in Portugal in the development of contemporary collage, by the artists, Mário Cesariny, Fernando de Azevedo, António Areal, Marcelino Vespeira and from the 50s, in the international context, of the KWY Group. In the surrealism Portuguese movement, stands up the Cruzeiro Seixas's work in collage and some unpublished aspects of his work - his notebooks - are designated as scrapbooks, a vehicle for artistic expression beyond the field of drawing, adding literature and poetry. The symbiosis between these elements resulted in works of great relevance in the whole of the surrealist movement and, in particular, of the Portuguese drawing
