José Cardoso Pires, O Anjo Ancorado e o Portugal dos anos 50: uma viagem entre estruturas e registos linguísticos

Abstract

Partindo de uma análise aos vários registos de língua que Cardoso Pires utiliza no romance Anjo Ancorado e à relação entre esses registos e a paisagem humana, social e cultural, este ensaio procurará evidenciar os processos que fizeram do autor um dos mais importantes nomes da Literatura Portuguesa do século XX e um dos mais capazes de trabalhar num discurso articulado diferentes retratos do país salazarista. Teremos em conta a intenção sempre manifestada pelo autor de corromper com o seu trabalho a estrutura gramatical da língua.

Starting from an analysis of the several language variations used by Cardoso Pires in the novel Anjo Ancorado and of the relation between those variations and the human, social and cultural landscape, this paper will try to show the processes which made this author one of the most relevant names of the twentieth century Portuguese Literature, as well as one of the best at constructing different pictures of Salazar’s country in an articulated discourse. We will consider the author’s manifested intention of corrupting the grammatical structure of language with his work.
