This report describes the work carried out during the internship of the Exercise and Health master's degree at the Faculty of Human Motricity at the Municipality of Oeiras, in the FIT Senior Program, emphasizing the characterization of participants with mobility limitations according to their step cadence. Physical fitness is a multidimensional concept encompassing several components that determine healthy ageing: muscular, aerobic, neuromotor fitness, and body composition. A sample of 302 individuals over 60 who frequented gymnastics, water aerobics, gymnastics + water aerobics, and chi kung were considered. Assessments included tests from the Senior Fitness Test battery, using the 2-min step test to assess aerobic fitness, handgrip strength assessed with a dynamometer and the Fullerton balance scale (SF-FAB). The results regarding the profile of the participants showed that the majority are female, with an average age of 75 years. The results show that the participants in the FIT Senior program are mainly female, aged between 70 and 80 years, and are in gymnastics and water aerobics modalities. The results indicate that most program participants do not have mobility limitations. Differences in mobility limitations were observed between modalities and age groups, with greater mobility limitations in gymnastics and water aerobics in older people. People with mobility limitations generally had lower physical fitness than those without, particularly women.
