Abstract(s)
As an element that overcomes old divisions, the various moments of sport: leisure, competition, spectacle and meeting create bonds of common aspirations, in a formerly disconnected city.: The velodrome, centered mainly on competitive sport, such as swimming pools and the playing field for use in leisure sporting activities. The building is part of a dense urban context of clandestine housing, located on the southern slope of Odivelas. In turn, it is an urban area with a language quite different from the contingent aspect, which is intended to be unified by a sporting centrality as a structuring element of the space. As a component of urban revitalization, it is a place that allows you to experience various sports, at different times both indoors and outdoors. In an outdoor context, volleyball, football, tennis, badminton, basketball and athletics are the modalities allowed within the projected limits. Inland, track cycling, various athletics, swimming, futsal and handball, allow you to walk around the building along its points of use. Accessibility to the north bank is established through overpasses that can be traversed and incorporated into the velodrome, allowing the visitor to be the main character in this small sporting city. Sport as an element of urban revitalization aims to respond to a discontinuous, fragmented city of barriers and limits, where physical exercise becomes a vehicle for union, meeting and relationship with the rest of the city
