A partir da análise dos problemas motivados pelas alterações climáticas e pelo crescimento demográfico que, consequentemente, afeta as cidades a nível social, económico e ambiental, o presente trabalho foca -se na procura de soluções para tornar as cidades mais sustentáveis.
É assim realizada uma investigação do que define uma cidade como sustentável, explorando possíveis intervenções no desenvolvimento da cidade de forma a promover o desenvolvimento social, económico e ambiental atual.
Como estratégia estudou-se os benefícios da produção agrícola na malha urbana e da construção em madeira, refletindo sobre as potencialidades destas duas vertentes servirem como solução diretriz para o desenvolvimento sustentável das cidades.
Faced with the problems caused by climate change and the demographic growth that, consequently, affect the cities at a social, economic, and environmental level, this work focuses on finding solutions to make cities more sustainable. An investigation of what defines a city as sustainable is thus carried out, exploring possible interventions in the city’s development to promote social, economic, and environmental development. As a strategy, the benefits of agricultural production in the urban mesh as well as the wooden construction were studied, reflecting on the potential of these two aspects to serve as guideline solution for the sustainable development of cities.
