procedimentos e processos.
As vantagens
This research examined a therapeutic task, metaprocessing, which facilitates the emotional processing of having had an experience of transformation, small or big. It promotes the processing of positive therapeutic change experiences, stimulating the unfolding of the accompanying emotions of positive valence, frequently experience as pleasant. This task was developed in the context of Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and was initially modulated through three rational-empirical models that describe its procedures and processes. The longitudinal examination of such a task within the therapeutic process context is still in its preliminary stages. A method based on mixed and longitudinal case studies was applied to empirically study a 16- sessions AEDP psychotherapy case, of which 13 were available for video-based analysis. This case was extracted from an outcome study (Iwakabe et al., 2020; 2022). The purpose was to first determine whether the case was considered successful or unsuccessful; second, identify, validate, and characterize metaprocessing events trough the previously developed models and measures; and third, to explore the relationship between metaprocessing and the emotional processing mechanism. Results revealed the effectiveness of the case under analysis, as well as the identification, validation, and characterization of 15 metaprocessing events that occurred throughout the therapeutic process. Through the qualitative analysis of emotional processing in and out of the identified events, the change process of the client was illustrated, highlighting the utility of the metaprocessing task in addressing grieving processes, dissolution of somatic complaints and facilitating the consolidation of resilience and authenticity. Potential advantages of this intervention, as well as the clinical implications and suggestions for future research, were then discussed considering with the theory and practice of AEDP and integrative perspectives in psychotherapy in general.
