Com o intuito de expandir a base de conhecimento atual, e apoiar as políticas públicas neste domínio, esta investigação foi desenvolvida através de um estudo de quatro casos, e visa compreender quais são os principais fatores existentes que influenciaram a tomada de decisão de algumas EMN a instalarem ou expandirem seus centros de I&D em Portugal na última década, assim como perceber como estas unidades se relacionam com a sede e outras unidades do grupo, e como interagem e contribuem com o Sistema Nacional de Inovação (SNI) português.
In order to expand the current knowledge base, and support public policies in this field, this research has been developed through a four case study, and aims to understand what are the main factors that have influenced the decision making of some EMN to establish or expand their R&D centers in Portugal in the last decade, as well as to understand how these units relate to headquarters and other units of the group, and how they interact with and contribute to the Portuguese National Innovation System (NIS).
