O crescimento global da importância e da disponibilidade de dados para as organizações fez surgir a necessidade de sistemas da informação inteligentes capazes de analisar esses dados para auxiliar a estratégia e a tomada de decisões. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho é entender a importância da Business Intelligence como alternativa para promover a vantagem competitiva de empresas, afinal, a B.I. surge da evolução de tecnologias, processos e metodologias organizacionais que passam a ser mais ágeis e precisos, aumentando assim a capacidade de transformar informações em dados para gerar conhecimento e consequentemente para a tomada de decisão. Diante do contexto acima, foi empreendida uma pesquisa qualitativa utilizando a metodologia Delphi com 28 profissionais da Business Intelligence, questionando benefícios, dificuldades, utilização e a relação de importância da B.I. com a tomada de decisão nas organizações. Concluiu-se que a vantagem competitiva é essencial para a organização, e mais do que nunca, nos dias atuais, desenvolver meios de atingir e manter essa vantagem irá ditar a evolução ou a morte das empresas, e o B.I., mesmo precisando superar algumas barreiras, oferece uma gama de benefícios diretamente ligados à vantagem competitiva.
The growth of the importance and availability of data for organizations has raised the need for intelligent information systems capable of analyzing data to aid strategy and these decision-making. The objective of this research is understand the importance of Business Intelligence as an alternative to promote the competitive advantage of organizations, because, B.I. evolved from technologies, processes and organizational methodologies that become more agile and precise, increasing the capacity to transform information into data to generate knowledge for help for decision making. In this context, a qualitative research was applied using the Delphi methodology with 28 professionals from Business Intelligence, questioning the benefits, difficulties, use and the relation of importance of B.I. with decision making in companies. It was concluded that competitive advantage is essential for the organization, and nowadays, developing ways to achieve and maintain that advantage can dictate the evolution or death of companies, and BI, even needing to overcome some barriers, offers a range of benefits linked to competitive advantage.
