Abstract(s)
It will soon be ten years since Pierre Huyghe produced one of his major works, The Host & the Cloud (2009-2010) : a set of situations that took place in a parisian ethnological museum during Halloween, St Valentine’s day, and May day. In this wide role-play, multiplayer game, each participant gets to travel from one fiction to another, in a constant migrating state. Described by Huyghe as an « exorcism », this initiatory taleis about our relation to media narratives and cultural content, the way they circulate and spread by fragments, are embedded and reenacted by us, shaping our collective psyche as well as our real common landscape. Little by little, as this dizzying phenomenon grows, the complex leading role of reappropriation processes becomes more and more visible through playing. In the shadow of backgrounds, a virtual character appears, embodying this strategic statement.
