Avaliação de índices reprodutivos nas ganadarias portuguesas de raça brava de lide

A raça Brava de Lide é uma raça autóctone portuguesa. Até à data, são escassos os estudos sobre maneio reprodutivo nestes bovinos. O objetivo desta dissertação consistiu em caracterizar os índices reprodutivos das ganadarias associadas à Associação Portuguesa de Criadores de Toiros de Lide (APCTL). Foram avaliados o número de vacas reprodutoras, o número de partos por ano, a idade média do efetivo reprodutor, a idade média ao primeiro parto, o intervalo médio entre partos (IEP) e a taxa de fertilidade anual, entre os anos de 2007 e 2016. Posteriormente, caracterizou-se a ganadaria Prudêncio, analisando os mesmos parâmetros, entre os anos de 2012 e 2016. Os dados foram recolhidos através da consulta da base de dados da APCTL, Genpro online, bem como dos seus registos físicos, e através de entrevistas a ganadeiros e médicos veterinários assistentes das ganadarias. Os nossos resultados mostraram que houve uma melhoria relativamente à idade média do efetivo reprodutor, à idade ao primeiro parto e ao IEP. Contudo, a taxa de fertilidade continua baixa, apesar de existir equilíbrio entre a oferta e a procura de toiros para lidar. O maneio reprodutivo deverá ser ajustado a cada caso, visando otimizar a eficiência reprodutiva e produtiva da exploração.
ABSTRACT - EVALUATION OF REPRODUCTIVE INDEXES IN THE PORTUGUESE LIVESTOCK BREED BRAVA DE LIDE - The Brava de Lide breed is a Portuguese autochthonous breed. To date, there are few studies on reproductive management in these cattle. The objective of this dissertation was to characterize the reproductive indexes of cattle ranchers associated with the Associação Portuguesa de Criadores de Toiros de Lide (APCTL). The number of breeding cows, the number of births per year, the mean age of the reproductive herd, the mean age at first calving, the mean interval between calving and the annual fertility rate between 2007 and 2006 were evaluated between the years of 2007 and 2016. Subsequently, the cattle ranch Prudêncio was characterized, analyzing the same parameters, between the years of 2012 and 2016. The data were collected through the consultation of the APCTL database, Genpro online, as well as of their physical records, and through interviews with cattle breeders and veterinarian assistants of the cattle ranches. Our results showed that there was an improvement regarding the average age of the reproductive herd, age at first calving and IEP. However, the fertility rate remains low, although there is a balance between supply and demand for bulls to the bullfight. The reproductive management should be adjusted to each case, in order to optimize the reproductive and productive efficiency of the farm.
