O presente Projeto Final de Mestrado corresponde a uma proposta de Reabilitação para o Antigo Quartel do Regimento de Lanceiros nº2.
O quartel, desativado desde 2015, localiza-se numa área privilegiada da cidade com forte valor patrimonial e histórico. Analisando o território de intervenção, compreende-se fragilidades sociais e urbanas da freguesia tornando assim necessário a dinamização desta. Procurou-se então programas que abordem estas carências e, através da integração do quartel no local, potencializem a vivência intergeracional.
Assim, propõe-se o programa principal de residência multigeracional, de forma a possibilitar por um lado o deslocamento e fixação de jovens á freguesia, por outro combater o isolamento social da população mais envelhecida. A restante parte do complexo compreende programas comerciais e serviços de apoio à residência multigeracional e à comunidade local, visando a requalificação deste espaço. É proposta ainda, dado a difícil permeabilidade urbana do quartel, a integração da parada militar na cidade, conferindo-lhe um carácter de praça pública.
Fundamentada em princípios de intervenção em património e num estudo do objeto, a requalificação do Antigo Quartel do Regimento de Lanceiros nº2 procura uma intervenção respeitosa da pré-existência, reconhecendo o seu valor e preservando a sua herança.
A proposta visa não apenas a melhorar questões especificas do edifício, mas também contribuir para o aprimoramento da vida urbana neste local.
This Master’s Final Project corresponds to a proposal for the Rehabilitation of the Old Barracks of Regimento of Lanceiros nº2. The Barracks, inactive since 2015, are located in a privileged area of the city with strong historical and heritage value. Analyzing the territory of intervention, it is possible to understand the social and urban fragilities of the parish, thus making it’s revitalization necessary. Programs were then sought to address these needs and, through the integration of the barracks on the site, enhance the intergenerational experience. Thus, the main program of multigenerational residence is proposed, intending to facilitate both the relocation and settlement of young people and concurrently, combat the social isolation of the older population. The remaining part of the complex is dedicated to comercial programs and support services for the multigenerational residence and the local community, aiming at the requalification of this space. It is also proposed, given the challenging urban permeability of the barracks, the integration of the military parade in the city, giving it a character of a public square. Grounded on principles of intervention in heritage and a thorough study of the object, the rehabilitation of the former Barracks of the Regimento of Lanceiros nº2 seeks a respectful intervention of the preexistence, acknowledging its value, and preserving its heritage. The proposal aims not only to adress and improve specific issues of the building but also to constribute to the improvement of urban life in this location.
