Resumo(s)
Digital transformation has played a decisive role in modernising the healthcare sector, seeking to address the limitations of traditional models of care provision. In this context, the proximity dispensing programme was introduced, an initiative designed to improve patients’ access to pharmacological treatments in hospital ambulatory settings. This programme aims to reduce waiting times, travel costs and absenteeism, promoting greater adherence to therapy. The main objective of this report is to describe the activities carried out during the professional internship at Glintt Global. During the internship, the author participated in the implementation of the proximity dispensing programme in six Serviço Nacional de Saúde establishments, accompanying the development and integration of the solution into the Globalcare application, used in hospitals throughout the country. The project implementation process covered several phases, from the definition of the functional circuit to its validation in a real environment. The teams monitored the entire proximity dispensing flow, assisting in the stages of medical prescription, pharmaceutical consultation, communication with the central warehouse, storage and distribution of medicines, and dispensing in community pharmacies. In addition, the author assisted in data extraction, system configuration, testing, user training, incident logging, and ongoing project monitoring. This approach made it possible to validate the model's performance, identify constraints and propose improvements to optimise the circuit. Preliminary results revealed integration of approximately 700 patients into hospital units, proving the correct functioning of the circuit and the stability of the solution. In this way, the proximity dispensing project proved to be a successful initiative in terms of medicine accessibility, with potential for expansion at national level, constituting an integrated and transversal solution in the modernisation of healthcare in Portugal.
