Em função do número de objetos etnográficos ameríndios armazenados em museus portugueses e consequentemente a realização de exposições organizadas a partir destes materiais, criou-se o interesse em analisar seus processos de musealização e exposição e compreender os possíveis reflexos destas na forma como determinada parcela da sociedade percepciona diferentes culturas, em especial a indígena. Refiro-me aqui aos processos de transmissão de saber, dos museus para a sociedade. Por este viés, temos como objeto central nesta pesquisa cinco grandes exposições museológicas ocorridas em Coimbra, Porto e Lisboa, circunscrevendo-as ao marco de mudança da política indígena no Brasil com a Constituição de 1988. A dissertação insere-se assim nos interstícios da antropologia e da museologia, dando pistas para uma compreensão da forma como a exposição de objetos indígenas nos permite construir um entre muitos olhares sobre a forma como a questão indígena tem sido inscrita na vida cultural portuguesa na contemporaneidade. Temos como metodologia central de trabalho o levantamento bibliográfico e histórico destas exposições bem como das recolhas e constituição destas coleções etnográficas. Esse aglomerado de informações nos possibilitou identificar alguns elementos e ideais presentes no processo de formação e consolidação de uma determinada imagem a respeitos dos ameríndios brasileiros, imagem estas, muitas vezes exíguas e disformes da realidade.
Given the important number of Brazilian Amerindian objects stored in Portuguese museums and the consequent existence of exhibitions organized from these materials, it is pertinent to analyze the process of musealization and exhibition to understand your reflexes on the way with the perception of a certain part of society about determinate cultures, particularly indigenous; Reference is made in the study to the processes of transmission of knowledge, from museums to society. Given this bias, the main objects of the investigation are five major exhibitions, which took place in Coimbra, Porto and Lisbon, that occurred during the period of change of the indigenous policy in Brazil with the Constitution of 1988. The dissertation is inserted in the interstices of anthropology and museology, giving clues to understand how the exhibition of Amerindian objects allows one to construct one of many glimpses on the way in which the indigenous question has been inscribed in Portuguese cultural life in contemporary times. We have with central methodology the research bibliography and historical these exhibition, as well, these ethnographic collections were collected and constituted. This information we possibility identify some elements and ideas presents in the process of creation and consolidation of the image of the Brazilian indigenous, this imagine are sometimes exiguous and disform reality.
