Com o propósito de compreender a realidade actual dos vazios existentes ao longo da auto- estrada A5, o presente Projecto Final de Mestrado, surge como resposta aos diferentes problemas causados pela infra-estrutura, que hoje assegura, as rápidas deslocações entre Lisboa-Cascais.
O trabalho iniciou-se em Laboratório de Projecto VI, onde se identificou as diversas condicionantes que este eixo infra-estrutural cria no território e de que forma é possível mitigar os seus efeitos, intervindo o menos possível na paisagem. A fragmentação e descontinuidades do tecido urbano junto a A5 e a anulação das ribeiras como lugares de lazer e estruturação do território, são as problemáticas que este trabalho se compromete a resolver. É urgente recentrar o papel de estruturador da A5 em vez de barreira.
Um projecto feito de memórias e simbolismo, que cria uma nova viagem pela A5 e que permite ao observador entender e localizar-se no espaço é conseguida através dos elementos singulares, que criam o ritmo visual, marcam os diferentes espaços e permitem os acessos verticais.
Esquecida e expectante, a Ribeira de Caparide, torna-se no modelo para aquela que pode ser a estratégia de requalificação da Área Metropolitana de Lisboa. Caparide serve de exemplo em como os novos usos, permitem transformar os vazios, que inicialmente era visto como inúteis, em úteis.
In order to understand the current reality of the gaps along the A5 motorway, this Master’s Final Project appears as a response to the different problems caused by the infrastructure, which today ensures rapid travel between Lisbon-Cascais. The work began in the Project VI Laboratory, where the various constraints that this infrastructural axis creates in the territory and how is it possible mitigate its effects, intervening as little as possible in the landscape. The fragmentation and discontinuities of the urban fabric along the A5 and the annulment of streams as places of leisure and structuring the territory, are the problems that this work is committed to solving. There is an urgent need to refocus the A5’s role as a structurer rather than a barrier. A project made of memories and symbolism, which creates a new journey along the A5 and which allows the observer to understand and locate himself in space is achieved through the elements singular, which create the visual rhythm, mark the different spaces and allow access vertical. Forgotten and expectant, riverside of Caparide becomes the model for what can be the Lisbon Metropolitan Area requalification strategy. Caparide serves as an example in as the new uses, allow to transform the voids, which were initially seen as useless, in useful.
