Abstract(s)

This theoretical and practical work, titled Merina, intends to present the possible relationships under a rhythmic perspective, between the phenomenology of a poetic image and temporality of a photographic image. The point is how the poetic moment - consisting of elements such as word, sound and rhythm - act as vector of the structural construction of the video work Merina. In this dissertation, it is argued that symbolic moments influence the temporal dimension of the image directly. This sound symbology have a direct relationship with the poetry of CesĂĄrio Verde, operating and shaping the image, acting in the "temporal density" of the video length factor, yielding a symbolic term. In order to illustrate the mentioned issues, the methodology used is at first, the rhythmic relationship between the concept of time from Gaston Bachelard thesis, and the time symbolism proposed by Mircea Eliade. Secondly, another objective proposed in this theoretical and practical work, is a reading of the video object that makes up the practical work of this thesis, from the concept of rhythmanalysis coined by the philosopher Luis Pinheiro dos Santos, and developed by Bachelard
