As escalas
advém do ERP-mães.
This study explores conceptions of Attachment Theory and of the Triadic Model of Support and Caregiving (Moreira, 2007). This exploration focuses on searching relations between the 2 fundamental dimensions of the attachment style in adulthood (Preoccupation and Avoidance) in mothers and children. Furthermore, those dimensions were related to fundamental components of Caregiving in the Triadic Model (Caring, Sharing and Effecting). Self-report measures were used to assess 2 samples: (1) 130 students, of which 116 girls and 14 boys, responded to an attachment style measure (the ERP-children) and to a perceived care measure based upon the Triadic Model (the Q3PC;) and (2) 99 mother-child dyads, of which children were part of the 1st sample and mothers were assessed by the ERP-mothers. The original ERP was split in two halves, so that each could be administered to one member of the dyad. One of the main goals of this investigation was the Q3PC´s validation. The findings from the factor analysis of the Q3PC show that there are positive and significant correlations between them. Items of the Sharing factor have high loadings on the other factors, mostly on Efficacy. Concerning dyads, intergenerational transmission of attachment style was not confirmed and, in contrast of what has been predicted, mother’s Avoidance shows positive and significant correlations with children’s Preoccupation. An unexpected cross-factors effect was found, with the Efficacy score more strongly related to Avoidance than to Preoccupation, in opposition to our initial hypothesis.
