RESUMO
Na sociedade actual, o estudo da fronteira entre o trabalho e a família possui grande
importância, sendo ainda mais relevante em organizações cuja especificidade tende a
acentuar essa fronteira. A presente investigação pretendeu avaliar o efeito do suporte
do líder e do ambiente de trabalho de suporte à família sobre o conflito trabalhofamília
em contexto militar. Os dados utilizados obtiveram‐se a partir das respostas de
260 militares da Marinha, de ambos os géneros e de diferentes classes e postos da
hierarquia militar. O conflito trabalho‐família é sentido predominantemente na
direcção trabalho‐família, sustentando os resultados a hipótese de que o suporte do
líder influencia negativamente o conflito. Pelo contrário, os resultados rejeitam as
hipóteses de que o ambiente de trabalho de suporte à família influencia negativamente
o conflito trabalho‐família e de que o suporte do líder modera a relação entre o
ambiente de trabalho e o conflito. Este estudo permitiu identificar novas variáveis, não
existentes nas escalas de medida originais integradas no questionário aplicado, que,
juntamente com o bom ajuste do modelo trazem novos contributos metodológicos
para a explicação da influência do suporte líder e do ambiente de trabalho de suporte à
família no conflito trabalho‐família.
ABSTRACT In modern society, the study of the boundary between work and family has a major importance, being even more relevant in organizations whose specificity tends to accentuate this boundary. The present research intended to evaluate the effect of leader support and family work supportive environment in work‐family conflict in a military context. The data was gathered from the responses of 260 Navy military, of both genders, with different specializations and positions in the military hierarchy. The work‐family conflict is felt predominantly in the direction work‐family, and the results support the hypothesis that the leader support negatively influences this conflict. On the contrary, the results reject the hypothesis that family work supportive environment reduces the work‐family conflict, and that leader support moderates the relation between family work supportive environment and work‐family conflict. This study allowed the identification of new variables, not existing in the original measuring scales integrated on the applied questionnaire, that, coupled with the god fit of the model bring new methodological contributions for explaining how leader support and family work supportive environment influence the work‐family conflict.
