dc.description.abstract	When analysing the graphic components of a book for children, generally up to the age of 11, one can easily identify several elements which make it visually appealing, such as illustrations and expressive typography. On the other hand, when analysing a book for young adults, targeted towards an adolescent audience from ages 12 to 19, one may find that said elements are lost and books tend to have a simpler and more monotonous design. Given that adolescents tend to look for more interactive and visually stimulating enter¬tainment, books for young adults do not adequately fit the interests and preferences of its audience. Thus, through data gathered in questionnaires and current work in Communica¬tion and Editorial Design, this dissertation aims, firstly, to define which graphic strategies may be added to books for young adults in order for them to fit their target audience and, therefore, to avoid a decrease in demand and consumption. Secondly, it presents a proto¬type of a book created under said graphic strategies. Lastly, this study aims to verify the effectiveness of the book prototype on its adolescent audience	pt_PT
