Com este trabalho quisemos traduzir e estudar um conjunto de textos
hipocráticos que se inserissem no âmbito da Ginecologia e da Obstetrícia. A escolha
destes temas resulta da sua predominância nos tratados hipocráticos, sem dúvida uma
área fundamental na investigação científica em Estudos Clássicos.
Depois de uma breve abordagem geral indispensável para localizar o nosso
objecto de estudo, debruçámo-nos sobre a forma como os textos que apresentamos estão
escritos e sobre a informação que transmitem, pois estes elementos revelam-se
fundamentais para compreender como ocorriam os partos e como se olhava para uma
mulher grávida no séc. V a.C. A seguir procurámos acompanhar o processo desde a fase
que precede a gravidez, com os tratamentos para a infertilidade, até ao parto
propriamente dito.
Abstract: With this work we wanted to translate and study a set of Hippocratic texts that insert within the Gynecology and Obstetrics. The choice of these themes results from its dominance in Hippocratic treaties undoubtedly a key area in scientific research in Classical Studies. After a brief general approach essential to locate our object of study, we looked on how the texts we present are written and the information they convey, because this elements are fundamental to understand how occurred births and how they looked for a pregnant woman in the 5 BC century. Then we tried to follow the process from the stage preceding the pregnancy, with treatments for infertility until the birth itself.
