Atualmente, a
Over the years, environmental issues have become the center of academic concerns and the concern of governments around the world, due to the aggravation of the problems caused by the degradation of the natural environment, especially in urban areas. It was in this context that sustainable development came into evidence, discussing the use of natural resources in terms of economic, social, and environmental progress. Currently, the perception is that there is a greater engagement of society in relation to reducing the impacts on nature, especially the younger people, belonging to the so-called Generation Z, which comprises those born between 1996 and 2003, considered as the "Generation global”, and which is more attentive to the world's problems, such as those defined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From this perspective, the focus of this research was to understand the behavior of Generation Z in relation to its environmental sensitivity, more specifically in terms of the correct disposal of solid waste in urban areas. In this way, it is verified which are the divergent and coincident practices in the environmental discourse of the regulars (Generation Z) of Bairro Alto, in Lisbon, in the correct destination of their solid waste discarded at the end of the night out period. For this, quantitative research was carried out, in the form of group discussion (Focus Group), with the intention of identifying the awareness of Generation Z in facing this problem. The results induced that Bairro Alto's frequenters have high environmental sensitivity (more than 70%), putting into practice the pro-environmental discourse characteristic of the generation to which they belong.
