dc.description.abstract	Os efeitos do aquecimento global têm tido um foco especial na região do Árctico, levando a um contínuo degelo da calote glacial. Com o degelo, a região ganhou um novo destaque na Comunidade Internacional: o Árctico possui importantes fontes de hidrocarbonetos, minerais, água potável, fauna marinha e o desaparecimento gelo possibilitará o acesso a novas rotas marítimas. Para além dos Estados da orla do Oceano Árctico, também outros Estados como a China ou India e Organizações Internacionais como a União Europeia têm demonstrado um renovado interesse na região. Centrado na questão dos hidrocarbonetos, esta dissertação irá associar os estudos da geopolítica do Árctico e da Estratégia de Segurança Energética da União Europeia. O estudo revelará que, a União Europeia tem demonstrado interesse no potencial energético da região, tendo em vista a diversificação de fornecedores de hidrocarbonetos, para assim reforçar a segurança de aprovisionamento. No entanto, o estudo demonstrará, que apesar do território gronelandês e o Mar de Barents na Noruega apresentarem concentrações generosas de hidrocarbonetos, podendo contribuir para a diversificação de fornecedores, é na Rússia que se encontra grande parte da concentração de hidrocarbonetos, o que significaria que a aposta na região não seria totalmente satisfatória para a União Europeia.	por
dc.description.abstract	ABSTRACT The effects of global warming have had a special focus on the Arctic region, leading to a continuous melting of the glacial ice cap. With the thaw, the region has gained a new prominence in the International Community: the Arctic has important sources of hydrocarbons, minerals, water, marine life and the thawing ice will allow access to new sea routes. In addition to the Arctic States, there are also other states like China and International Organizations such as the European Union who have shown a renewed interest in the region. Centred on the question of hydrocarbons, this thesis will include the studies of Arctic geopolitics and EU Energy Security Strategy. The study will reveal that the European Union has shown interest in the energy potential of the region, with a view to diversifying the suppliers of hydrocarbons, thereby enhancing security of supply. However, the study shows that despite the generous concentrations of hydrocarbons in the Greenlandic territory and in the Barents Sea in Norway, which may contribute to the diversification of suppliers, is in Russia where the larger concentration of hydrocarbons , which would mean that the bet in the region would not be entirely satisfactory for the European Union.	por
