The title “A Margueira is ours... It’s for all of us” emerged from an exhibition developed by the Institut pour la Ville en Mouvement on “The street is ours... It’s for all of us!” presented at MUDE (Museum of Design and Fashion), which aims to understand how public space and everything it entails, including experiences, urban furniture, among others, are constantly changing. The main idea is to transform Margueira into a public place in the city, as public as a street. (mude.pt, 2010, “A rua é nossa...É de todos nós.”) The purpose of the Master’s Final Project is to solve the existing connection problem between the city of Almada and the riverside area, as well as the lack of qualified green spaces for the enjoyment of the population near the river. After studying and reflecting on the territory of Almada, the chosen location that best suits the development of this new city improvement space is the Lisnave Shipyards, as they have a strong connection with the river and, at the same time, with the city of Almada. As a response, the proposal is to create a green Urban Park with various activities in order to bring different dynamics to this place, which was once a center of progress for the country. At the same time, it is a park that will be connected to passages, bridges, and links to the surrounding urban fabric, creating exceptional lookout points and solving the problem of fragmentation between the riverside area and the city.
