Resumo(s)
This paper presents a critical analysis of the agricultural solid waste management, taking as case study the county of Vila Franca de Xira.
In order to support this analysis we present the literature review and the contacts with public and private entities and organizations with an interest in the present work.
It is made a brief introduction to clarify the reasons that explain the genesis of the problem of waste in general and the agricultural waste in particular and the importance of its managing.
It is also mentioned the main problems raised by wastes in the environment, its management, and the main solutions adopted for each of these wastes.
It is presented the legislation and institutional framework for the wastes of agricultural sources, indicating the documents and entities involved in waste management.
For the case study, it was characterized the county in general and justified the decision to limit the analysis to the Lezíria Grande de Vila Franca de Xira.
The data related to waste management in the area and a critical analysis of the actual situation, including suggestions for intervention in the management of agricultural waste that may help to improve the current situation.
