| dc.description.abstract | In an era saturated by the flow of dispersed information is critical to foster participatory strategies for providing structure and shared sense-making in the present and towards the future. Parallel to the role shifting of memory institutions – from guardians of centralized historical narratives to facilitators and dialogic structures – it is also essential to document and keeping alive the small narratives shared in everyday life experiences, which also take part of our cultural and social heritage. In this context, participatory and visualization methods and practices were contextualized, departing from the literature review on the influence of image and digital mediation to study contemporary visuality as an ecosystem. This framework led to the systematization of three operative concepts – Archive, Atlas and Rhizome – identified as pivotal socio-communicative paradigms of the 21st century’s networked culture, guiding the empirical study developed within the scope of the investigation. Thus, starting from the premise that the co-created visualizations, through the combination and correlation of digital resources, enhance the sense of belonging and collective memory, an exploratory and qualitative methodology was adopted, through the analysis of multiple cases, the testing of a prototype with potential users and conducting interviews with experts. The operative contribution of the research materializes in the proposal of a participatory visualization model, mediated by a digital platform, which may be applicable to diverse contexts and types of events and experiences. The Mnemoscope model aims to take advantage of digital technology, which has become a central dispositive of contemporary sociability, to enrich and encourage the co-creation of multiple perspectives on shared experiences, with the potential to represent collective memories. The differentiating value of the proposal is the focus on visual elicitation from correlated visualizations to instigate participation and co-creation through the mapping, combination and intertextuality between records of multiple participants. | pt_PT |
