| dc.description.abstract | A infecção recorrente do tracto urinário é frequente em idade pediátrica e associa-se a grande morbilidade clínica, ausência escolar e laboral e elevados custos em saúde. Actualmente, os algoritmos de diagnóstico e de investigação não são suportados por evidência sólida, e a prevenção da recorrência é pouco eficaz. O objectivo desta revisão é a identificação dos principais factores que potenciam a recorrência de infecção urinária e intervenções preventivas que possam substituir ou complementar a profilaxia antibiótica. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The recurrence of urinary tract infections (UTI) is frequent in the pediatric setting and it’s associated with high disease burden, school and office absence and elevated healthcare costs. Currently, the diagnosis, management and follow-up of urinary tract infection in children remains controversial, and prevention of recurrence remains uneffective. This review identifies important landmarks in the pathogenesis of UTI recurrency and the possible preventive measures that might replace or complement antibiotic prophylaxis. | pt_PT |
