BACKGROUND: The assessment of the Quality of Life (QoL) in patients with bone metastases has been increasingly recognized as an important outcome in Oncology. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the QoL in these patients, before and after radiotherapy treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 41 patients diagnosed with bone metastases and refered for radiotherapy at the CCC between February and November of 2017 were included in the study. The QLQ-C30 and QLQ -BM22 European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) questionnaires were applied before the treatment (T0) and one week (T1) and one month after (T2) the end of radiotherapy. RESULTS: Forty patients completed all 3 questionnaires at determined time point - 28 females, 12 males, mean age of 61.4 years. The results report statistically significant differences in the following parameters: global QoL, functional function, emotional function, fatigue, pain, dyspnea, pain sites, pain characteristics and functional interference, with an increase of the QoL in all of them over time. No significant new findings were observed for the influence of the number of sessions or lesions in the QoL of the patients. CONCLUSIONS: The results obtained allow us to conclude that there is an improvement over time in bone metastases patients QoL, submitted to radiotherapy. As reported in the literature, there is no significant difference between patients submitted to one treatment session or more than one treatment sessions.
