Abstract(s)
For many years, a large expanse of green areas was the image of the Vale de Alcântara, where the crystal-clear water bed and verdant banks once served as a meeting point and encouraged activities that accentuated relationships of neighborhood and belonging. However, this scenario ended up being replaced by a new infrastructure reality, whose construction raised both urban and social problems, which are still felt today. Through the regeneration and requalification of a 4km stretch of the Valley, the aim is to revitalize this place that is currently undervalued and seen as a non-power, reversing the entire construction mass that is fragmented and unconnected, returning it to its natural form. It is essential to establish a balance between the slope, where low-rise and high-density construction will predominate, and the lower area, where a more natural character is evident around a water line. The intention of the proposal is for these areas to correlate, giving rise to a new connected front where a sense of belonging is established between both parties. Finally, through the redesign of the Valley, it is expected that this proposal will be able to meet the needs of the current context and the morphological requirements of the place, integrating the essence and naturalness of what it once was. Furthermore, the aim is to restore the ties that were disconnected between the environment and people, once again becoming a meeting point, an attractive hub for experiences in the city.
