‘A Aldeia da Trindade’ é um trabalho desenvolvido no âmbito do Projeto Final de Mestrado que aborda a questão do envelhecimento populacional em Portugal e propõe uma estrutura habitacional para idosos na costa marítima de Lagos, junto do antigo Convento da Trindade.
Considerando o aumento do índice de envelhecimento, o presente documento pretende compreender o papel da arquitetura em relação a esta problemática social. Atualmente verifica-se uma carência de soluções habitacionais direcionadas para a autonomia das pessoas mais velhas. Neste sentido, pretende-se estudar a possibilidade de novos modelos tipológicos que proporcionem um envelhecimento ativo e em comunidade para estas pessoas, através de uma proposta de projeto que explora o conceito de ‘Aldeia Lar’.
Nas margens da costa marítima de Lagos, permanecem as ruínas do Convento da Trindade, abandonado há décadas. Este edificado conventual, com mais de quatro séculos de história, aguarda a recuperação do seu papel ativo na cidade e surge nesta proposta como objeto a reabilitar, sugerindo a investigação da sua atual condição ruinosa, confrontando-a com a sua intervenção e proteção dos valores históricos.
A proposta da estrutura habitacional desenvolve-se no terreno existente junto do convento, beneficiando do seu valor histórico e urbano para a integração da ‘Aldeia da Trindade’ e dos seus residentes na comunidade.
“A Aldeia da Trindade” is a work developed in the scope of the Master’s Degree Final Project that addresses the issue of population aging in Portugal and proposes a housing structure for the elderly on the coast line of Lagos, near the old Convento da Trindade. Considering the increase of the aging index, the present document intends to understand the role of architecture in relation to this social problem. There is currently a lack of housing solutions directed to the autonomy of older people. In this sense, it is intended to study the possibility of new typological models that provide active aging and community for these people, through a project proposal that explores the concept of “Aldeia Lar”. On the shores of Lagos’ coastline stand the ruins of the Trindade Convent, abandoned for decades. This conventual building with more than four centuries of history awaits the recovery of its active role in the city and appears in this proposal as an object to be rehabilitated, suggesting the investigation of its current ruinous condition, confronting it with its intervention and protection of historical values. The proposed housing structure is developed on the existing land near the convent, benefiting from its historical and urban value for the integration of “Aldeia da Trindade” and its residents in the community.
