The aging of the scalp and hair is an important topic that has not received much attention from the industry. Observing and understanding the aging of hair and scalp in an integrative way is essential to improve functionality and enhance the beauty of both structures. Although there is some movement towards “skinification” of hair products, scalp aging remains a neglected area, likely because it involves a hidden part of the skin that lacks the sociopsychological impact of other more visible areas. Hair depigmentation, associated with overall aging, is closely linked to the social and physiological signs of general aging. It is relevant to understand the impact of incorporating anti-aging ingredients into hair care products and how mechanisms can be developed to reduce hair pigment loss. This dissertation aimed to develop an innovative shampoo that offers practical support in addressing the aging of the hair structure while enhancing its appearance and functionality. The developed shampoo presents itself as a robust and innovative formulation, designed to be produced industrially to prevent and combat hair aging. From the synergistic selection of ingredients, physico-chemical characterization, to rigorous stability and microbiological safety tests, as well as in vitro and efficacy tests, each step was grounded in solid scientific principles, ensuring a stable, functional, and safe product. The formulation includes specific actives that protect the natural color and promote the repigmentation of gray hair, while also strengthening and protecting the hair fiber and stimulating scalp well-being. With a carefully selected fragrance, the shampoo offers a complete sensory experience, promoting emotional balance. This laboratory development positions itself as an innovative industrial solution in the cosmetic market.
