The research aggregates relevant concepts on surface design applicable to projects involving the process of conventional textile screen printing. This method can be observed as a vehicle of artistic expression associated with fashion design, as it enables the combination of different effects and textures to apply on garments. The lack of training and bibliographic content in this area, felt by several fashion design professionals in the practice of their activity, designed us to look for explanations that might support the need to build some instructional material where the designers can find technical knowledge for their projects, and transpose the latent possibilities of his creative potential through the use of screen printing. To this end, we are looking at the collection of information for the construction of a manual, which made us realize that this activity encompasses complex issues that require in-depth study. We investigate the requirements that can determine such importance, and bring to reflection the relations established between stamping and fashion design in four stages: literature review, survey application and data analysis. As complements, non-interventionist observation surveys and interviews were applied, aiming at information that was not being located in specific literature.
