Due to the pandemic context, the topic of social connection has taken on greater relevance, and this variable is correlated with psychological, emotional, and physical well-being. The perception of social connection has been investigated along with the assessment of the quality of social relationships and life satisfaction. Emphasizing that there is still little evidence on how the assessment of the quality of social relationships can influence the relationship between social connection and life satisfaction in the COVID-19 context. Therefore, the present study aims to investigate the relationship between the perception of social connection, the quality of social relationships and life satisfaction during the pandemic period. For this, we use a sample of 127 Portuguese people, who completed three questionnaires on the perception of social connection, the assessment of the quality of social relationships and satisfaction with life. Participants who classified themselves as socially disconnected were more severe in assessing the quality of social relationships and reported lower life satisfaction. Our mediation models suggested that the assessment of the quality of social relationships mediates the relationship between perceived social connection and life satisfaction during the pandemic period.
