O incremento do envelhecimento é uma realidade da presente sociedade, sendo necessário refletir acerca das políticas sociais para que os idosos deixem de ser um grupo de cidadãos infoexcluídos. Atualmente é uma prioridade necessária incluir os idosos na Sociedade da Informação e do Conhecimento através da utilização das TIC como forma de proporcionar um adequado envelhecimento ativo.
Nos últimos anos, a evolução das TIC conduziu-nos à Web Social (Web 2.0) e ao aparecimento de ferramentas e aplicações online, cada vez mais interativas e colaborativas, de que é exemplo o Facebook.
Neste contexto, apresenta-se um estudo de caso realizado numa turma de informática da Universidade Sénior Albicastrense (USALBI) com o objetivo de compreender o contributo do Facebook na promoção do envelhecimento ativo, com base em dados recolhidos através da observação não participante, entrevistas semiestruturadas e aplicação de uma grelha de exploração cronológica baseada nas funcionalidades do Facebook.
The increase of aging is a reality of this society, it is necessary to reflect on social policies for older people in order not be a infoexcluded citizens group. Today is a necessary priority to include the elderly in the information society and knowledge through the use of ICT to provide a suitable active aging. In recent years, ICT developments led us to the Social Web (Web 2.0) and the emergence of online tools and applications, increasingly interactive and collaborative, as exemplified by Facebook. In this context presents a case study in a class of computer science at the Senior University of Castelo Branco (USALBI) in order to understand the contribution of Facebook to promote active aging, based on data collected by non-participant observation, semi structured interviews and application operation of a grid based on chronological features of the use of Facebook.
