| dc.description.abstract | The following dissertation was produced for the Masters in Multimedia Art, by the College of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, in the specialty of Photography. The theme of this paper is the memento mori and the unheimlich in the photographed human body. The theoretical side of this dissertation is composed by a first part, where it is made an analysis of two concepts, memento mori and unheimlich, based on articles written by Sigmund Freud, followed by an application of those concepts on the field of photography, with the works of Laura Mulvey, Rosalind Krauss, Hal Foster, Susan Sontag, Roland Barthes, and others, as fundament for this application. The second part concerns the artistic references, complied by the works of Jorge Molder, Hans Bellmer and Tony Oursler. The practical component of this dissertation presents and a description of all the experiments that have led to the final object, as well as a description and analysis of said object, comprised of a photographic series of six portraits of faces resulting from the projection of a doll onto to a woman's face | pt_PT |
