No Brasil, as bibliotecas escolares ainda precisam de muitos investimentos, consequência essa que decorre do descaso eom relação aos papeis da biblioteca na escola pela sociedade, ainda que existam teorias e discursos bem construídos sobre como ela deve ser. No Distrito Federal, movimentações já começaram a ser feitas, visando a melhoria das bibliotecas públicas locais, no entanto, as bibliotecas de suas escolas ainda precisam de ser mais dinamizadas e mais valorizadas, embasando-se em pesquisas e avaliações nacionais.
Este estudo, de natureza descritiva com abordagem qualitativa, estuda a questão da biblioteca escolar, seu papel na sociedade e seu impacto no processo educativo, através de um levantamento de literatura especializada na área, bem como de documentos relevantes, que fornecem diretrizes e orientações para as bibliotecas escolares, e tem como objetivo principal propor um programa de atividades para bibliotecas escolares da rede pública de ensino do Distrito Federal, em um contexto de rede de bibliotecas, propondo orientações e atividades com foco na iniciação de literacias e visando contribuir significativamente para a dinamização da biblioteca escolar e o processo de ensino-aprendizagem dos alunos da pré-escola da Educação Infantil.
Utiliza-se dos métodos bibliográfico e documental, e também comparativo, para a estruturação do programa. Como considerações finais, um programa de atividades contribui para a melhoria e o desenvolvimento das bibliotecas escolares em diversos aspectos, a potencialização do processo de ensino-aprendizagem e, em última instância, a valorização do profissional bibliotecário, que atua nestes espaços.
In Brazil, school libraries still need a lot of investments, a consequence that results from the disregard for the role of the library in school by society, even though there are well-constructed theories and speeches about how it should be. In the Distrito Federal, movements have already started to be made, aiming to improve the local public libraries. However, the libraries of its schools still need to be more dynamic and more valued, based on national research and evaluations. This study which has a descriptive nature with a qualitative approach, studies the school library issue, its role in society and its impact on the educational process, through a survey of specialized literature in the area, as well as in relevant documents that provide guidelines for school libraries, and its main objective is to propose an activity program for school libraries in the public school system from Distrito Federal, in a context of a library network, suggesting guidelines and activities focusing on literacies initiation and aiming to contribute significantly to the dynamization the school library and the teaching-learning process of pre-school children. It uses the bibliographic, documentary and comparative methods for the program structure. As final considerations, an activity program contributes to the improvement and development of school libraries in several aspects, enhancing the teaching-learning process and, consequently, valuing the professional librarian, who works in these spaces.
