A bacia do Tejo constituiu, simultaneamente e ao longo da Pré-História das Sociedades Camponesas peninsulares, fronteira cultural e via de passagem privilegiada norte-sul-norte de influências culturais diversas.
Interessa-nos aqui particularmente o papel por ela desempenhado nos processos de transmissão de modelos e técnicas metalúrgicas, sul-norte e norte-sul, nomeadamente no caso dos primeiros artefactos em bronzes binários de que o conjunto dos machados de bronze de “Tipo Bujões” de Escaroupim (Salvaterra
de Magos) constitui um bom exemplo, além de servir de pretexto a estas linhas.
During the Prehistory of peasant societies (from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age) the Tagus river basin constitutes simultaneously a cultural boundary and a cultural passageway between the northern and southern haves of central and western Iberia. We are particulary interested in the role of this area in the transmission of metallurgical models and techniques, namely, in the case of the presence there of the first binary bronzes, as exemplified by the "hoard" of four "Bijões type" axes of Escaroupim (Salvaterra de Magos) which serves as a pretext for this paper.
