Resumo(s)
O exercício físico (EF) e a Atividade Física (AF) têm comprovado variados
a inatividade física.
O presente documento, inserido no âmbito do estágio enquanto fisiologista do
É bastante visível a
Physical exercise (PE) and physical activity (PA) has proven several health benefits, and its regular practice by people with Intellectual and Developmental Disability (DID) is essential, despite the tendency towards physical inactivity. Thus, with the average life expectancy of these people increasing, there is a need to organize strategies to promote healthy aging. This document, within the scope of the internship as an exercise physiologist, aims to make the reader aware of the problem of including individuals with DID and Trisomy 21 (T21) in physical exercise programs, in this case through a surf program, promoting thus increasing physical fitness, as well as quality of life, in the target population. Unfortunately, the professional intervention will be presented in the form of a project due to the situation we are going through, Covid-19, and with that the population has not been available for practical and real realization. The scarcity of studies is quite visible, despite the existing ones reporting the importance of PA and PE in the health, well-being and quality of life of individuals with DID. At the end of the report and reflecting on the path taken, it was possible to conclude that the proposed objectives were met and the challenges overcome and with a positive vision of the future implementation of this project.
