The main purpose of this investigation is to analyze the relationship between the Perception of Organizational Support and Professional Stress. In order to accomplish such objective, two instruments of measurement were used – Survey of Perceived Organizational Support (Eisenberger et al., 1986) and Job Stress Survey (Spielberger & Vagg, 1999). The sample includes two professional groups: engineers (n=19) and bankers (n=34). Additionally, this dissertation seeks to characterize the professional stress of this groups, through a comparison with other groups previously studied: bankers and professors (Rafael, 2001), consultants (Pinto, 2012) and veterinarians (Silva, 2013). Afterwards, in the data analysis, the correlation coefficient’s confirmed the hypothesis presented: individuals with higher levels of perceived organizational support show reduced values of professional stress. As regards to the characterization of the professional stress for both groups, the most severe and frequent stressors were identified. Through the comparison with other professional groups, it was possible to identify the stressors specific to these professionals, and also allowed to classify the bankers as a risk group.
