A profissão farmacêutica está a passar por um significativo crescimento, historicamente marcado pelo progresso tecnológico e pelas estratégias de retalho. Esta relação simbiótica está a redefinir o exercício da prática farmacêutica e a remodelar a disseminação de informações de saúde. Ainda assim, muitas definições permanecem pouco claras, resultando em disparidades na interpretação devido a diferenças de linguagem, cultura e evolução profissional. A necessidade de uma padronização aprimorada e definições precisas dentro da integração global à saúde é necessária. Assim, um método em dois passos foi escolhido para obter publicações dos termos relacionados com farmácia prática. Primeiramente, cada termo foi pesquisado em toda a base de dados. O segundo passo foi condicionado pela ocorrência do termo pesquisado mais a definição do termo na publicação. Em seguida, a procura por uma definição para cada termo foi feita a partir da publicação mais antiga e assim por diante, até que uma definição de cada termo fosse encontrada, permitindo o estudo da definição mais antiga do termo e, em alguns casos, outras definições mais recentes foram encontradas para possibilitar comparações. A maioria das definições foram encontradas após uma busca extensa, não sendo, assim, estabelecidas no início da existência do termo. Algumas definições foram encontradas em 1972, 1985 e 1991, enquanto outras foram descobertas apenas em anos recentes como 2018 e 2020. Isto significa que muitos resultados não indicam uma definição mais antiga, pois o termo pode estar em constante evolução, tornando difícil defini-lo. As definições mais recentes são, em geral, termos mais amplos (como digital-), e com a evolução ao longo do tempo, tornou-se difícil definir um significado específico, enquanto definições mais antigas incluem termos como tele- e mobile-, mostrando a sequência do surgimento da tecnologia. É importante padronizar a procura dos termos em si, bem como a forma como são escritos, para que o seu significado seja universal, dentro da mesma área e com outras áreas da saúde, pois definições mais específicas garantirão uma maior literacia em saúde e um uso dos termos e da tecnologia inerente associada mais correto.
Pharmacy profession is experiencing significant growth and advancement, historically marked by a commitment to both technological progress and effective retail strategies. The symbiotic relationship is redefining pharmacy practices and reshaping health information dissemination. Despite various terms attempting to capture facets of pharmacy practice, definitions related to it remain elusive, leading to disparities in interpretation due to language, culture, and professional evolution. The need for heightened standardization and precise definitions within the global integration of healthcare is underscored. A two-step search was chosen to obtain publications of the terms related to pharmacy practice. First, each term was searched throughout the entire database. The second step was conditioned by the occurrence of the searched term plus the term definition in the publication. Afterwards, the search for a definition for each term was made from the publication of the first work and so on until a definition of each term was found, so that the oldest definition of the term could be studied and in some possible cases other definitions were found more recently so that a comparison could also be made. Most of the definitions were found after a long search, so the definitions were not defined in the beginning of the existence of the term. Some definitions were found in 1972, 1985, 1991 while others were found only in recent years as 2018 and 2020. Meaning that a lot of results does not mean an older definition because the term can still be evolving so it can be difficult to define it. The recent definitions are in general broader words (like digital-), with the evolution over time it became dificult to define a specific meaning, while older definitions are terms like tele- and then mobile-, showing the sequence of the emergence of technology. It is important to standardize the search for the terms themselves, as well as the way they are written so that their meaning is universal, within the same area and with other areas of health, because more specific definitions will ensure greater health literacy and make a better use of the terms and the associated inherent technology.
