Virtual Reality (VR) is capable of providing experiences with a high level of immersion, making the user feel that he really is in the virtual environment, a phenomenon called Presence. However, most VR experiences only take advantage of senses such as sight, hearing and simple haptics. Olfactory and complex haptic stimulation is still little explored in virtual environments. The present project aimed to study the influence of sensory information increments in a virtual environment on the user experience (UX) and usability. A literature review was carried out in order to understand the central themes of the investigation. Subsequently, active investigation culminated in the creation, evaluation and evolution of a multisensory virtual experience capable of providing visual, auditory, olfactory and complex haptic stimuli. The object was evaluated for UX, considering Presence and emotional reactions, and for usability, considering performance. The results suggest that the addition of olfactory and haptic stimulation contributed to the improvement of UX. As for usability, the increase did not prove to be beneficial for performance. The results lead to the conclusion that it is necessary to balance the sensorial increment in order to achieve a quality experience in terms of UX and usability at the same time.
