Resumo(s)
Atualmente, a principal via de transmissão do HIV é a via sexual. As vias de transmissão incluem a vagina e outros compartimentos do aparelho genital feminino, o pénis (prepúcio e uretra), o ânus/reto bem como o trato GI superior.
Currently, the main route of HIV transmission is after sexual exposure. Transmission pathways include the vagina and other compartments of the female genital tract, the penis (foreskin and urethra), the anus / rectum as well as the upper GI tract. These mucous membranes have different characteristics, which leads to different susceptibilities. The study of sexual mucosa membranes, the interactions between the virus and these tissues and the way the virus crosses the mucosa and target cells, contributes to the development strategies to prevent transmission.
