| dc.description.abstract | The work of this dissertation focuses essentially on matters related to the areas of environmental acoustics – noise and discomfort to the urban population. Noise is a source of noise pollution, which is a combination of various sound sources, from commercial activities and services, religious spaces, construction, vehicle traffic, human activities, etc. This raises the level of urban noise and contributes to the emergence of unpleasant sound environments increasingly. With the evolution of society, noise is considered one of the most common environmental problems, degrading the quality of life and the environment. The legislation and international regulations have allowed the quantification by means of noise maps and acoustical prediction, where the legal authorities can view and plan interventional measures for a proper planning of the urban places. This case study describes the noise in the urban environment in the city of Lisbon, more specifically, a typical residential area of the city – Benfica – Igreja de Benfica – Rua dos Arneiros. An environmental noise analysis, through the acquisition levels of sound pressure and frequency spectra in bands 1 / 3 octave, continuously under a period of 7 (seven) days during the month of May 2011. The results showed the characteristic noise of a residential zone of the city of Lisbon, as well as identified what are their main sources. The information drawn from this study may serve as a basis for development and planning of cities in relation to acoustic comfort. | por |
