Este relatório documenta um projeto de visualização analítica de trajetos humanos e de análise demográfica dos visitantes do Jardim Botânico Tropical (JBT), com base nos dados recolhidos por uma aplicação móvel desenvolvida recentemente, e guiado por questões de negócio colocadas por representantes do JBT, bem como pelos desafios inerentes à representação e interpretação de grandes quantidades de dados.
São incluídos capítulos sobre conceitos e trabalho relacionado, abordando a metodologia adotada, bem como sobre a análise do problema e o desenvolvimento da solução. Houve a necessidade de familiarização com os dados, tendo sido criado um modelo dimensional, com novos atributos e dimensões, quer das fontes de dados existentes no início do projeto quer de novas fontes, com o propósito de permitir uma leitura fácil e de alto
desempenho, podendo ser usado para responder às atuais e futuras questão do negócio. São apresentadas visualizações que respondem às questões colocadas, as quais são interativas e dinâmicas, seguindo-se a avaliação dos requisitos do negócio e das próprias visualizações. No final do projeto, foram criadas condições para a solução desenvolvida ser posta em produção no ambiente de trabalho dos responsáveis pelo JBT.
O trabalho realizado estruturou, consolidou, e enriqueceu a informação sobre os utilizadores da aplicação móvel do JBT e das suas visitas ao jardim, e disponibilizou essa informação numa interface gráfica para consulta e análise, reduzindo o tempo de trabalho dos analistas, e dando a oportunidade para novas análises.
This report documents a project of human analysis and demographic analysis of visitors to the Jardim Botânico Tropical (JBT), based on mobile data by a newly developed application, and guided by business issues as well as representatives of the JBT, as well as the challenges inherent in representing and interpreting big data to representation. Chapters as concepts and related work are included, covering the methodology adopted, as well as on problem analysis and solution development. It was needed to familiarize with the data, creating a dimentional model, with new attributes and dimensions, either from the existing sources at the beginning of the project or from new sources, with the purpose of allowing an easy and high performance reading, being able to be used to answer current and future business questions. Visualizations are presented that answer the questions asked, which are interactive and dynamic, followed by the assessment of the business requirements and the visualizations themselves. At the end of the project, conditions were created for the developed solution to be put into production in the work environment of those responsible for the JBT. The work carried out structured, consolidated, and enriched the information about users of the JBT mobile application and their visits to the garden, and made this information available in a graphical interface for consultation and analysis, reducing analysts’ work time, and giving the opportunity for further analyses.
